Discover Authentic Mexican Flavors at La Cosecha Mexican Table in New Braunfels

La Cosecha Mexican Table, which opened its doors in New Braunfels in June 2019, offers a genuine taste of Mexico through its commitment to fresh, scratch-made cuisine. The name itself, “La Cosecha,” meaning “the harvest,” hints at the restaurant’s core philosophy: utilizing organic ingredients to craft a menu that beautifully merges interior Mexican culinary traditions with the beloved Tex-Mex style. This establishment is part of the Wiggins Hospitality Group, known for McAdoo’s Seafood Co., another New Braunfels dining gem located in a historic post office.

Stepping into La Cosecha is an immersive experience that goes beyond just the food. The interior design immediately captures attention, showcasing green tiles imported directly from Mexico and vibrant, hand-painted murals created by local artists – a signature touch of founder and owner Becky Wiggins. This dedication to detail extends throughout every aspect of the restaurant.

“We were trying to create the whole experience with the sign, the food, the landscaping, the cocktails,” Becky Wiggins explained. “They are all of the same quality, so you really feel like you have a unique experience.”

La Cosecha thoughtfully incorporates elements from the previous restaurant at the location, Mamacita’s, repurposing barstools into unique chandeliers. This blend of old and new reflects the restaurant’s concept – respecting tradition while innovating.

“The quality and the thoughtfulness that goes into matching the design and the atmosphere, the patio, the landscaping, match the quality and thoughtfulness of the food,” Caroline Wiggins, partner at Wiggins Hospitality Group, emphasized. “[Whether it is the] beautiful fresh garnishes or homemade pickled red onions, all of these little things that contribute to the overall feeling, and it’s not stuffy; it’s not unattainable or unfamiliar. It’s just thoughtful.” This attention to detail, from the ambiance to the smallest garnish, elevates the dining experience at La Cosecha.

To ensure the authenticity of the menu, La Cosecha’s original executive chef embarked on a culinary journey to Mexico. Spending weeks cooking alongside a local woman in her home, the chef immersed themselves in traditional recipes and cooking techniques, bringing genuine Mexican flavors back to New Braunfels. This commitment to authentic preparation is evident in every dish.

Especially during the warm Texas months, La Cosecha offers refreshing and flavorful options. The menu features dishes perfect for the heat, such as the Snapper Crudo, Grilled Oysters Divorciados, and a vibrant heirloom tomato salad paired with house-made burrata. These lighter, yet intensely flavorful, dishes are ideal for experiencing the fresh ingredients La Cosecha champions.

Looking ahead, the team at La Cosecha has aspirations to expand, with hopes of opening a second location closer to San Antonio. The Wiggins Hospitality Group is also actively developing a new American cuisine restaurant within the historic old City Hall building in New Braunfels, located at 202 N. Seguin St, further enriching the local dining scene.

“I think we really just wanted a nice, more upscale, authentic experience that wasn’t too expensive. … We wanted people to have more of an experience when you are going out to eat,” Becky Wiggins concluded, encapsulating the mission of La Cosecha Mexican Table: to provide a memorable and genuinely Mexican dining experience that is both accessible and exceptional.
