Mix ‘n’ Mash: Echoes of the Past
Running from January 31st to March 2nd, 2025, “Mix ‘n’ Mash: Echoes of the Past” is a unique group exhibition featuring artworks from over 200 local and regional artists. Created on quality panels donated by Ampersand Art Supply, this art sale is more than just a display. It’s a community-driven initiative to raise awareness about visual arts and art collecting while simultaneously funding the Museum’s vital programs. The proceeds from this exhibition directly support Mexic-Arte’s ongoing exhibitions, educational programs for both children and adults, and the essential upkeep of its permanent collection.
Las Calaveras at Republic Square
Extending its reach beyond the museum walls, Mexic-Arte presents “Las Calaveras at Republic Square,” a public art installation on view from November 9th, 2024, to May 31st, 2025. This collaborative project brings together the creative forces of Mexico City-based Colectivo Última Hora and Austin-based artists Ruben Esquivel, NIZ, Carmen Rangel, and Ryan Runcie. This outdoor exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience art in a public space, engaging with the community in a vibrant and accessible way.
Changarrito Residency: David Delgado
From February 1st to February 28th, 2025, Mexic-Arte Museum hosts David Delgado as part of its Changarrito Residency program. David, a visual artist hailing from Houston, Texas, brings his perspective as a first-generation Mexican American to his art. His bilingual upbringing deeply influences his work, which often explores symbolic language and questions the value we place on everyday objects in a capitalistic society. Through his residency, Delgado invites viewers to reconsider overlooked items and engage in broader conversations about value and perception.
