Kickoff is slated for 12:15 p.m. Mountain Time, and for fans across the nation, ESPN will broadcast all the gridiron excitement live.
Jeff Siembieda, Executive Director of the New Mexico Bowl, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the event once again. “We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to our beautiful state and city,” Siembieda stated. “This year is particularly special as we transition to a post-Christmas game for the first time. We believe this new date will offer a fantastic opportunity for local supporters to immerse themselves in the excitement of the Isleta New Mexico Bowl, while also providing ample travel time for fans of the participating teams to reach Albuquerque and enjoy the festivities.”
Historically, the New Mexico Bowl has been a fixture on the opening Saturday of Bowl Season for 17 of the past 18 years. This year marks a significant shift to a coveted post-Christmas slot, enhancing the bowl’s prestige and national attention. The game will maintain its tradition of pitting a team from the Mountain West Conference against a contender from either Conference USA, the American Athletic Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Mid-American Conference, ensuring a compelling matchup.
Last year’s Isleta New Mexico Bowl saw a memorable contest where Fresno State triumphed over New Mexico State University with a score of 37-10, witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd of over 30,000 fans. The upcoming 2024 game is anticipated to deliver similar excitement and competitive spirit.
