College Station is set to become a soccer hotspot as Kyle Field prepares to host a high-profile Mexico Soccer Game against Brazil. Known for its massive capacity that fits over 102,000 fans for Texas A&M Football, Kyle Field is now aiming for a different kind of record – attendance for a Mexico soccer game on U.S. soil. Athletics Director Trev Alberts has issued a challenge to Aggies and soccer enthusiasts across Texas and beyond to fill the stands on June 8 and surpass the current MexTour attendance record.
This exciting match is part of the Mexican national men’s soccer team’s MexTour, a five-city journey across the United States leading up to the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup. The current attendance benchmark for a MexTour game is 90,526, achieved in 2010 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena during a game against New Zealand. Kyle Field, with its impressive capacity, has the potential to not only meet but exceed this number, setting a new record for Mexico soccer games in the United States.

To build anticipation for the summer match at Texas A&M, soccer legends Emerson da Rosa of Brazil and Pavel Pardo of Mexico visited the campus recently. Their visit included a tour of the iconic Kyle Field, allowing them to experience the Aggie spirit firsthand. They were accompanied by ESPN soccer commentator and Texas A&M alumnus Fernando Palomo during their two-day stay in College Station.
During their visit on April 30, the former international players also took in an Aggie Men’s Baseball game at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. There, they were introduced to a unique Aggie tradition, learning the meaning behind the phrase “saw ‘em off,” further immersing themselves in the Texas A&M culture.

Pardo and da Rosa joined Trev Alberts for a press conference at Kyle Field, where they shared their impressions of the stadium and the Texas A&M campus. “We are like Aggies now,” Pardo joked, expressing admiration for the university’s atmosphere and community. He emphasized the significance of a packed stadium, stating, “Part of the game, when you are there on the field, it’s like you say here: ‘the 12th Man.’ That’s very important. For me, when I step on the field with a crowded stadium, it’s amazing.”
Da Rosa echoed Pardo’s sentiments, praising Texas A&M’s environment. “This place is really special,” he said. “Congratulations on the great structure and for the passion that runs through here…We hope that Brazil will present itself very well here.”

Alberts expressed his gratitude to the players for visiting and highlighted the importance of hosting the Mexico soccer game at Kyle Field. “We’re incredibly honored to get to host, this is a really big deal for us….Kyle Field is a pretty special place, so if you’re going to do something on Kyle Field, it has to be pretty special, something like this.” He then boldly announced the goal to break the MexTour attendance record, emphasizing the global reach of Texas A&M: “And by the way, I like breaking records, so can we today announce that we want to break the MexTour attendance record?…This is an international university, we have impact across the globe…so this is a remarkable opportunity for us to participate, to continue growing the brand of Texas A&M as an institution and as an athletic department.”
Alberts and the soccer stars discussed the potential of events like this Mexico soccer game to boost soccer’s popularity in the United States. MexTour games typically attract fans from over 30 different U.S. states and numerous countries, making it a truly international event and a fantastic opportunity to witness a thrilling Mexico soccer game.
