Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (16 oz) can black beans, undrained
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until onions begin to soften and become translucent.
  2. Add the undrained black beans, chopped cilantro, cumin, and salt to the saucepan. Stir everything together well and reduce the heat to medium-low.
  3. Allow the beans to simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. This simmering time allows the flavors to meld and deepen. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed to your preference.
