Yesterday, like many times before, I found myself meeting a friend, Joe, for a quick and fulfilling lunch, and Tere’s was the obvious choice.
Located conveniently on the border of Hollywood and Hancock Park, Tere’s resides in a modest strip mall at the corner of Melrose Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard. Don’t let the unassuming location fool you; inside, you’ll discover a small, welcoming restaurant with a menu that caters to all Mexican food enthusiasts.
To kick off your meal, I highly recommend indulging in their homemade Chips ($1.00) accompanied by a generous side of fresh Guacamole. Alternatively, explore their impressive salsa bar, boasting a variety of homemade options ranging from mild red salsa to fiery salsa roja, tangy tomatillo salsa, and even pickled jalapenos, carrots, and onions. Whether you opt for guacamole or not, the salsa bar alone is a flavorful adventure.
Authentic Mexican food at Tere's Mexican Grill in Los Angeles
Having sampled numerous dishes over time, I’ve narrowed down my personal favorites to the Burrito de Machaca (also known as Machaca con Huevo) and the Burrito con Pork & Chili Verde. If forced to choose just one, the Chili Verde burrito wins, but when sharing is an option, the combination of both offers a delightful culinary balance. Joe, on this occasion, opted for the taco combination featuring Carne Asada and Pork (Chili Verde) tacos, served alongside traditional homemade rice and beans.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, complemented by Tere’s wide assortment of bottled beverages, including popular Mexican sodas and the iconic bottled Mexican Coca-Cola. For an authentic and satisfying Mexican food experience, Tere’s Mexican Grill is a must-visit. You won’t be disappointed! Just remember they are closed on Sundays.
