On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, a Tex-Mex casual dining chain, appears to have closed all of its Arizona locations. The company’s website no longer lists any Arizona restaurants on its location finder map. Google still lists four On The Border locations in Arizona, but three are marked as “permanently closed”:
- 5005 E Ray Rd in Phoenix
- 1665 S Stapley Dr in Mesa
- 7873 W Bell Rd in Peoria
A visit to the On The Border restaurant at the Ahwatukee Foothills Towne Center in Phoenix confirmed its closure. Paper signs on the doors stated: “This location is permanently closed. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank our customers. Please find another location at www.ontheborder.com.”
Another Mesa location, at 1710 S Power Road, still lists online ordering through DoorDash, but it does not appear to be accepting orders. Calls to this location have gone unanswered.
On The Border has not yet released an official statement regarding these closures. ABC15 reached out to the company for confirmation and clarification but has not received a response. This article will be updated with any new information as it becomes available.
While the future of On The Border Mexican Grill Cantina in Arizona is uncertain, the closures mark a significant development for the Tex-Mex dining scene in the state. Customers seeking their On The Border fix will need to look to locations outside of Arizona or explore alternative dining options.
