Mazda Mexico Celebrates a Decade of Manufacturing Excellence

Mazda de Mexico Vehicle Operation (MMVO), Mazda Motor Corporation’s production facility in Mexico, has reached a significant milestone, celebrating its 10th anniversary. Established in January 2014, MMVO marked this special occasion with a commemorative ceremony on February 25, 2024 (Japan time), attended by employees and esteemed guests from the Mexican government at the state and city level.

Mazda President and CEO Masahiro Moro addressed the attendees, expressing his gratitude for the support MMVO has received since its inception. He emphasized Mazda’s “Human Centric” culture and highlighted the strong collaboration between the Japan and Mexico teams across various departments, including production engineering and quality control. Moro reiterated Mazda’s commitment to ensuring MMVO’s deep integration within the local community, aiming for it to be a valued and respected factory in Salamanca, Guanajuato.

MMVO has become a cornerstone of Mazda’s global operations, achieving cumulative production of one million vehicles by 2020. Over the past decade, the Mazda Mexico plant has evolved into a vital hub for the company’s international business strategy. In 2023, MMVO’s output reached 202,506 units, contributing to Mazda’s record-breaking sales of 76,017 units in Mexico. Notably, vehicles produced at Mazda Mexico account for approximately 70% of Mazda’s sales within Mexico and a significant one-third of sales in the crucial North American market. This underscores MMVO’s strategic importance in supporting Mazda’s presence in North America, which the company considers its most important global market.

Through continuous collaboration with stakeholders, Mazda Mexico is poised to further strengthen its role as a strategic asset for Mazda in the North American region. The company aims to contribute significantly to the growth of the Mexican economy and the advancement of its automotive industry.
