The Venezuelan Embassy in Mexico City serves as the official headquarters of Venezuela’s diplomatic mission in Mexico. Located in the upscale Polanco neighborhood, it sits just north of two of the area’s most iconic streets: Campos Elíseos and Avenida Presidente Masaryk.
While slightly removed from the main “Embassy Row,” and bordering Chapultepec Park, the Venezuelan Embassy remains a significant presence in Mexico City. It provides crucial consular services to Venezuelan citizens and offers visa assistance to individuals requiring a visa to travel to Venezuela.
Mexico and Venezuela share a rich and intertwined history. Notably, Venezuelan hero Simón Bolívar is uniquely honored twice along the iconic Paseo de la Reforma. Bolívar even visited Mexico City in 1799, decades before either nation achieved independence, highlighting the deep historical connections between the two countries.
Today, Mexico and Venezuela maintain active trade relations. Mexico exports goods such as corn, baby food, shampoo, paper products, and machinery to Venezuela. In return, Venezuela exports steel machinery, construction materials, and a significant amount of sesame seeds to Mexico. Both nations are also active participants in multiple international organizations, including the Association of Caribbean States, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the Latin American Integration Association, the Organization of American States, and the Organization of Ibero-American States. Adding to these ties is a growing cultural exchange that has become increasingly important in recent years.
Mexico City has long been a welcoming city for people from around the globe, and Venezuelan citizens represent one of the most substantial foreign populations in the city.
