Boutique Hotels Mexico City: Experience Cool Design at Condesa DF

Mexico City has long been a sought-after destination, and even before it became a global hotspot celebrated for its culinary scene and vibrant culture, Condesa DF was setting trends as the city’s first design boutique hotel. Even two decades later, while perhaps not the newest, Condesa DF remains undeniably cool, largely thanks to its exceptional design and prime location.

Grupo Habita, renowned for creating unique hospitality experiences like Hotel Escondido in Oaxaca and The Robey in Chicago, reimagined a neoclassical 1920s apartment building to house Condesa DF. They collaborated with Mexican architect Javier Sanchez and Iranian-French designer India Mahdavi, resulting in a space that feels as contemporary and innovative today as it did at its inception. The hotel features sleek metal shades that provide privacy to guest rooms overlooking an open-air atrium. Inside, the furniture is a blend of modern and playful, with pieces reminiscent of the Jetsons era – think white semicircle leather couches and lacquered tables shaped like chess pieces. Bold yet minimalist color accents, such as turquoise walls and lemon-yellow chairs, add pops of vibrancy.

Nestled amongst palm and pine trees, Condesa DF is steps away from Parque España, one of Mexico City’s most charming parks. This location offers a tranquil escape from the city’s constant energy while keeping guests in the heart of the lively Condesa neighborhood. It’s a perfect paradox: a serene retreat within a bustling metropolis.

Among the five room types available, the corner suites with their wraparound terraces are particularly impressive, especially during springtime when the jacaranda trees bloom in vibrant purple hues. A vintage 1950s Chevy parked at the entrance acts as a stylish marker, signaling your arrival at a destination favored by fashionable locals and discerning travelers alike. You might find yourself sharing the iconic rooftop bar with stylish Mexico City residents, known as Capitalinas, enjoying some of the city’s best sushi. Condesa DF is more than just a hotel; it’s an experience, embodying the cool and sophisticated spirit of boutique hotels in Mexico City.
