Hosting a Big Game party? You’re going to need some entertainment beyond the screen, and Big Game Squares is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. It’s incredibly easy to set up and gets everyone involved in the excitement of the game. Plus, it pairs perfectly with delicious snacks, maybe even some guacamole made with fresh Avocados From Mexico! Here’s how to get your game squares ready:
-
Start by grabbing a large piece of paper and a pen. You’re going to draw a big square and then divide it into a grid. Create 10 horizontal rows and 10 vertical columns within your large square. This will give you a total of 100 equally sized squares.
-
Now it’s time to get your guests involved. Have your partygoers choose their squares by writing their names in them. Keep going until all 100 squares are filled. If you have 10 guests, each person gets to claim 10 squares! Make sure the names are distributed randomly across the grid for fairness.
-
Look at the left edge of your big square. You’re going to number each row using single digits from 0 through 9, but in a random order. Don’t repeat any numbers. Then, write the name of one of the Big Game football teams along this edge to label these rows.
-
Repeat the numbering process along the top edge of the big square for the columns. Again, use the digits 0 through 9 in a random, non-repeating order. Write the name of the other Big Game football team on this side to label these columns.
-
The real fun starts when the game begins! After each quarter of the Big Game, check the score. To find the winner for that quarter, use the last digit from each team’s score. For example, if the score at the end of the first quarter is 14-7, the winning square is the one at the intersection of the row numbered 4 and the column numbered 7.
-
Award prizes to the lucky winners after the first, second, and third quarters, and of course, for the final score of the Big Game. The prizes are totally up to you – get creative and make it fun! And while you’re at it, make sure you have plenty of snacks on hand, like chips and guacamole made with creamy avocados from Mexico, to keep your guests happy throughout the game.
