Home Depot Mexico Celebrates 20 Years of Growth and Success

Twenty years ago marked a pivotal moment for The Home Depot in Mexico, with the acquisition of Total Home, a home improvement chain comprising four stores. This acquisition was the cornerstone for what has become a significant presence across Mexico: Home Depot Mexico. Today, the company proudly operates 128 stores throughout all 32 Mexican states, employing over 18,000 associates. Home Depot Mexico has solidified its position as the largest home improvement retailer in the country, celebrating two decades of consistent expansion and achievement.

This milestone anniversary reflects not only growth in store numbers but also a deep-rooted commitment to the Mexican market. Jose “Pepe” Rodriguez, President of Home Depot Mexico since 2001, emphasizes this dedication. “We’re confident that we will keep growing in Mexico by investing in customer experience, in the future of our business, and in creating value. We’re looking forward to growing our business while taking care of our people and protecting our culture,” Rodriguez stated, highlighting the company’s focus on sustainable and people-centric growth in the Mexican market.

Home Depot Mexico’s commitment extends beyond business expansion to environmental responsibility. The newest store, opened in Corregidora, Querétaro in February 2021, exemplifies this. Designed and operating under stringent environmental standards, this location is pursuing LEED certification from the United States Green Building Council. Achieving this certification would mark the second Home Depot Mexico store to receive this recognition, following the Santa Anita, Jalisco location. This pursuit of LEED certification underscores Home Depot Mexico’s dedication to sustainability initiatives within its retail operations across the country.

Furthermore, Home Depot Mexico has consistently been recognized for its dedication to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace. The company has received accolades for its commitment to labor equality, non-discrimination, and family-supportive business practices. Notably, in 2020, Home Depot Mexico received the Corporate Social Responsibility Award from CEMEFI for the 14th consecutive year. This consistent recognition highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to be a responsible corporate citizen in Mexico, valuing both its employees and the wider community.

Looking ahead, the future for Home Depot Mexico appears promising. Rodriguez expresses enthusiasm for the company’s trajectory: “I’m very excited about what is coming in 2021 and in the future. Our plan is focused on working to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace and provide the best experience for clients and associates.” This forward-looking statement reinforces Home Depot Mexico’s ongoing commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and continued leadership in the Mexican home improvement retail sector.
