Escaping the perpetually cool climate of San Francisco, our priority upon arrival was to fully embrace the warmth and sunshine of Punta Mita. After settling into our luxurious Garden Casita, we eagerly changed into our swimwear and secured a cabana for the day, ready to maximize our time by the pool.

We chose a cabana at the Tamai adults-only pool, the newest and most exclusive pool area at the Four Seasons Punta Mita. This tranquil space provided the perfect setting to bask in the sun, take refreshing dips in the pool, and savor the resort’s signature spicy margaritas.

Of course, no poolside experience is complete without indulging in the culinary offerings. We enjoyed a flavorful udon noodle bowl with chicken, accompanied by freshly made guacamole and chips, and another round of those irresistible spicy margaritas!

Speaking of dining, the Four Seasons Punta Mita boasts an impressive six distinct restaurants and fifteen bars, offering a diverse range of culinary experiences. For casual fare, The Salad Shack and The Nuna Pool Bar offer an array of fresh and healthy options. For a more refined dinner experience, Aramara presents a fusion of Asian cuisines, alongside expertly prepared hot rock-cooked steaks and fresh sushi.

With such enticing choices, we opted for Dos Catrinas for our first dinner, drawn to its authentic Mexican cuisine. This restaurant is renowned for its extensive tequila selection, featuring over 300 varieties and offering over 120 different tequila tastings throughout the resort. A word of advice: perhaps keep some Advil handy!

Dos Catrinas delivers traditional Mexican dishes with innovative and contemporary twists. The birria short rib and spicy grilled octopus were exceptional, but the table-side guacamole was an absolute revelation, so delicious that we ordered it twice during our stay.

Before concluding day one, I must mention Bahia by Richard Sandoval, a beachfront seafood restaurant helmed by the acclaimed Chef Richard Sandoval. Regrettably, we didn’t have the opportunity to dine here, but it’s already at the top of my list for my next visit to Punta Mita.

Day 2: Coffee with a View, Private Beaches, Nuna Pool Bliss, Ziplining Adventure, and Downtown Delights
Following a supremely relaxing first day at Four Seasons Punta Mita, day two was dedicated to exploring more of the resort’s incredible offerings. The only initial challenge was leaving the unparalleled comfort of our king bed, a challenge quickly overcome with the promise of fresh coffee.
In-room Lavazza coffee is a thoughtful touch, but I prefer starting my day with a walk. While a complimentary coffee cart was conveniently located near Dos Catrinas, I opted for a nonfat cappuccino from the Mez Bar, situated upstairs and offering stunning morning views.

Punta Mita is renowned for its oceanfront splendor, and the beaches here certainly live up to the hype. With an afternoon activity planned, we spent the morning luxuriating on the beach before heading to the Nuna Pool for a leisurely lunch.

From invigorating morning pool aerobics to snorkeling excursions and tequila tastings, there is truly something for everyone. For my birthday, I sought an adrenaline rush and the hotel expertly arranged a Canopy tour, which, to my surprise, was ziplining!

The Canopy tour featured an exhilarating ten-zipline course and a suspension bridge adventure nestled in the mountains behind Higuera Blanca, a charming local town. Despite having skydived in my younger years, I felt a surprising apprehension about my first ziplining experience. (Perhaps turning 33 has made me more aware of gravity!)
While the initial lines were nerve-wracking, the thrill quickly took over, transforming apprehension into exhilaration. The panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding natural beauty were simply breathtaking, even after days of enjoying ocean vistas at the resort.

The entire experience lasted approximately two hours. Upon our return, we refreshed ourselves and headed to the Nuna Pool to witness the sunset before venturing downtown for dinner in Punta Mita. The vibrant hues of the sunset, as the sun dipped below the horizon, were reminiscent of scenes from a CGI masterpiece – a truly surreal and unforgettable moment.

Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it’s to a place as magnificent as the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. On our final morning, we savored one last view of the lush tropical gardens, enjoyed a final coffee at the pool bar, and squeezed in a gym session before departing Punta Mita.

The resort’s gym was truly impressive. While I rarely exercise on vacation, I felt invigorated and wanted to preemptively work off a few margaritas before leaving. The highlight of the gym was the inclusion of a reformer Pilates machine – a welcome surprise!

Although time didn’t permit, I highly recommend exploring the resort’s spa, conveniently located near the gym. (We opted for adventure instead, but I regretted not booking a treatment). I’ve heard glowing reviews of their body treatments and couples packages. This just gives us another compelling reason to return to the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita soon!
